Measure VY

In 2022, Vote16 achieved city council approval for a measure to expand Culver City's voting age. In November, it was in front of voters as "Measure VY." From months of canvassing, text banking, and meetings with local community groups, Measure VY received tremendous support from Culver City voters.

Ultimately, VY lost by a razor-thin margin. It received 49.95% of the citywide vote, narrowly losing by 16 votes out of 16,602 ballots cast. Still, the measure received more "YES" votes than any city council candidate that year.

Because VY's margin was so close, we think Culver City voters deserve a second opportunity to voice their opinion on teen enfranchisement.

Through our petitioning campaign, voters have that second opportunity.
